Description

Cultist Simulator is a roguelike narrative card game set in a 1920s world of hidden gods and secret histories. You play as a seeker of unholy mysteries, pursuing goals such as power, beauty, revenge, or forbidden knowledge. As you explore, you combine cards to shape your narrative in a setting filled with ambition, appetite, and abomination. You serve as a scholar of unseen arts, searching dreams for sanity-twisting rituals, crafting tools, and summoning spirits.

You found a cult dedicated to entities like the Red Grail or the Forge of Days. You recruit believers and promote them to disciples to act as researchers or burglars. You must outwit investigators, rivals, and suspicious authorities. You may also translate grimoires to glean lore and pillage the Star Shattered Fane.

Reviews

“A magnificent nightmare, for those with the stamina to master the gruelling card game that houses it.” Recommended – Eurogamer “Cultist Simulator is something else. It’s seductive. It captures the looming threat of utter annihilation played against the transcendent bliss of unravelling mysteries wrapped in enigmas wrapped in other really, really weird shit. It’s excellent, put simply. The cosmic horror and occult subject matter isn’t just set dressing here – it’s expertly woven into the core of play, and the result is completely absorbing.” Recommended – Rock, Paper, Shotgun “Hauntingly rapturous to play and replay, Cultist Simulator won't let you be the next Jim Jones, but it might just make you the next Torgo. With sassier hair, naturally.” 90/100 – RPGFan
