Description

In Mable & The Wood, you explore a dying dark fantasy world. A strange cult resurrected you based on an ancient prophecy that suggests you must hunt down massive beasts. Upon destroying these creatures, you take their forms to use their powers to either save or destroy the world. You are able to transform into a mole, medusa, spider, and more.

You do not run or jump on your own. Instead, you drag a sword that is too heavy to lift. You shift into a fairy to leave the sword behind, then recall it to slice through enemies. You can maintain non-human forms for a limited time, though killing creatures extends this power. You can complete the game without killing anything, including bosses, by finding secret paths.

Reviews

“Is this a force that can be stopped?” Rock Paper Shotgun “Mable and the Wood stands out for more reasons than its beautiful, minimalist style. It's a metroidvania, but one where combat is completely optional.” Kotaku “Mable & The Wood is one fun game. It is one that I will continue playing until I get all of the endings because I like it that much” GameSpace
