Wandering Sword is a martial arts adventure set in ancient China. You travel across five regions containing over 75 locations, including towns, mountains, rivers, and dangerous lairs. The visuals combine traditional pixel art with 3D landscapes. You engage in combat on a tiled board using a system that allows you to switch between turn-based and real-time modes.

You master various martial arts techniques and weapon styles while cultivating energy through meridian points. Throughout your journey, you build relationships with NPCs and can recruit up to 14 unique martial artists to join your party. Your choices affect the narrative, leading to multiple possible endings. Aside from the main storyline, you complete side quests across the world.
