Description
IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 is a simulation featuring a total of over 300 aircraft, including 229 flyable planes. You participate in detailed careers as either a fighter or bomber pilot. These roles span the German, Soviet, and Japanese air forces. You perform tasks ranging from operating jet bombers over occupied Europe to intercepting American B-29 Super fortresses near Iwo Jima and the Japanese home islands.
The game includes historical maps of the Kiev region and Manchuria, along with a Burma map and a Khalkin Gol / Nomonhan map. You engage in nine campaigns containing nearly 200 missions. Three of these campaigns focus on alternate history scenarios involving hypothetical battles between the Soviet Union and Germany during 1946. There are nearly 1,000 paint schemes showing individual squadrons that served in WWII.
